UNC Chapel Hill MOY site director Kelsey Williams has recently been accepted to Project IMHOTEP, a public health research internship that will take place this summer from May 18 to July 31. Through the program, Williams will spend her first two weeks at Morehouse Public Health Institute in Atlanta, GA, where she will take courses and gain skills necessary to succeed in the program. For the remaining nine weeks, she will be interning in either Atlanta or Cincinnati, OH conducting research with experts at the Centers for Disease Control, the National Institute for Medical Research, academic institutions, state agencies, and various other public health agencies and community-based organizations. At the conclusion of the program, Kelsey will give an oral presentation and submit a written manuscript suitable for publication in a scientific journal.
Upon graduating from UNC in May 2016, Kelsey would like to pursue a dual graduate degree in Social Work and Public Health. The Project IMHOTEP program will give her more experience in the public health field and will provide her with an adventurous summer away from home. Williams says that she is looking forward to getting out of her comfort zone in North Carolina to see what else is out there. We congratulate Kelsey on this major accomplishment and wish her the best of luck in her program this summer!
