UNC Movement of Youth mentor and Research & Evaluation Director Tianna Barnes was recently accepted into a Ph.D program at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Tianna plans to study Business Administration, Work & Organizations at the school starting in Fall 2015. Tianna is currently a senior at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Psychology.
Barnes says that she will develop her skills as a researcher and scholar while in the program. She also hopes to become an expert in the field of business and employee socialization, diversity, and identity development. "I am beyond blessed and excited to be entering into a graduate program following the completion of my undergraduate career,” says Barnes.
We wish Tianna the best of luck as she graduates & moves to Minnesota for her program. We will truly miss her being part of the MOY team. As she reflects on her time with the program, she says that her position as an executive and general body member within movement of youth has been fun and rewarding, but a reminder of how important my work will be in the future. The youth of today will one day be the business leaders of tomorrow and understanding what makes them, specifically minorities, the most comfortable and successful in the work force is what I aim to do."
