David Reavis is a junior Architectural Engineering major at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical University.
David has recently taken on the position of site director for the North Carolina A&T Movement of Youth site, which will have its first Saturday Academy next month.
During his time at Hillside High School in Durham, David was a mentee in the program. He recalls that the program and its staff invested a lot of time in his future. He says that he had a very comfortable transition from year to year because of the goals that he set, and the expectation of excellence from the program. “I was nurtured, and guided along my own path, and was enjoying myself all the while,” says Reavis. “Movement of Youth empowered me to go the extra mile and really tap into my greatest potential.”
He says that the relationship he built with his mentor, Eric Campbell, has developed into a lifelong bond. His most memorable experiences in the program were the college tours. “It was very enjoyable to be amongst so many like minded individuals at such a young age. I will never forget the bus ride, and the look on everyone’s face when Atrayus sang on the microphone. There was never a dull moment with the group,” he said.
David looks forward to presenting youth in the Greensboro area with the same experiences and opportunities that he received through the program. He feels that it is very important to invest in the future of this program; he believes that the youth from this program will pioneer the upcoming generation.
