Mentee Michael Rogers accepted to summer abroad program

Movement of Youth mentee and Research Triangle High School student Michael Rogers was recently accepted to a summer abroad program in Costa Rica through Education First educational tours. While abroad, Michael will have the opportunity to visit the historical cities of San Jose, Carara, and Monteverde. He will travel alongside a group of approximately 15-19 other students. We wish Michael safe travels this summer as he explores Central America!

Movement of Youth mentees Cierra Mills & Michala Mills receive multiple achievement awards as graduation approaches

headshots of Cierra Mills and Michala MillsMovement of Youth mentees and sisters Cierra Mills and Michala Mills have both received numerous academic, extracurricular, and service-related awards as they prepare for their graduation from Ravenscroft Independent School.

Cierra has been recognized in the top 3% of her graduating class. She will be attending High Point University in the Fall to major in Biology and Biochemistry. In addition, she has received the High Point University Presidential Leadership Award, the High Point University Scholars Award, the Presidential Service Award, the Academic Achievement Award in Science, the National Society of High School Scholars Award, a Jack & Jill Leadership Certificate, the MVP Award in cheerleading, and the coaches award in cheerleading.

Michala has been recognized in the top 5% of her class and will be attending High Point University as well. She plans to major in Communications and Sports Management while in college. Michala has received the Presidential Service Award, the Jack & Jill Leadership Certificate, the Jack & Jill Community Service Award, and the Jack & Jill Athlete Award.

Mentee Ashlan Bowdry inducted into honor society

Ashlan Bowdry on racetrackMovement of Youth mentee and Hillside High School freshman Ashlan Bowdry will be inducted to her high school’s Freshman Honor Society on Friday, April 24th at 6:00 PM. In addition, she recently qualified for the 4A Midwest Regionals in track & field for the 400-meter dash, 4x200 meter, and 4x400 meter. We congratulate Ashlan on her wonderful academic and extracurricular achievements!

Mentee Ashlee Hopkins accepted to two universities

headshot of Ashlee HopkinsMovement of Youth mentee and Jordan High School senior Ashlee Hopkins was recently accepted to both North Carolina Central University and Winston Salem State University. While in college, Ashlee plans to study nursing. Ultimately, she would like to become a registered pediatric nurse. Ashlee plans to make her final college decision very soon! She will be graduating from Jordan on June 10th. We wish Ashlee the best of luck as she transitions to college!
